Our Part

Colossians 3:16-17

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom

Ever wondered what part you and I are to play in growing strong in the Lord? Sure you probably have. Maybe you’ve even heard a few sermons on how to grow spiritually, and yet there always seems more.

I believe nit ha a slot to do with ‘posture’ – the spiritual posture we are to adopt knowing that God has made His game changing move.

He came to us and engaged with lost humanity, saving us from our sins. Now He expects us simply to respond in faith and ‘let’… the word of Christ dwell in us richly in all wisdom.

Our Father is raising us up to walk and talk like Him in the sphere of influence He has given to us. We are called to be His ‘ambassadors’ accurately reflecting His heart and will to people who don’t know Him and who are in need.

It begins when we play our part and ‘let’ His word ‘settle down and take up residence in’ our hearts. Not just a little mind you, but ‘richly’ in ‘all wisdom’.

Of course it’s not just some blind acceptance of doctrine that we don’t even understand. He has given us a brain to comprehend and act upon His wisdom in miraculous ways that make a difference.

Our part is to adopt a posture of receiving or acceptance: ‘to ‘let’ God’s word into our way of thinking and change us from the inside.

From the inside out, through the Word – that’s a core reality of spiritual growth.

Yes, we do have a part to play: it is to ‘let’ go and ‘let God’ have His way: it’s always better and brighter.
