God can and does reach everyone

What about the people in….?

Have you heard the argument that Jesus can’t be the only way, because what about the people in remote places: jungles etc, who have (supposedly) never heard the Gospel?

Of course this is an unprovable hypothetical question, nevertheless God has shown three key ways in which He reaches out to all mankind everywhere.

First, God reveals Himself and His plan through His Creation.

Psalm 19:1-4

The heavens declare the glory of God; And the firmament shows His handiwork. Day unto day utters speech, And night unto night reveals knowledge. There is no speech nor language Where their voice is not heard. Their line has gone out through all the earth, And their words to the end of the world.

Fancy that, when people honestly cry out for God to reveal Himself, He can and will do so through His creation which is accessible to all man, everywhere at all times. That’s why the wonder and grandeur of nature (creation) documentaries are so popular.

Second, everyone has a conscience.

The conscience is that part of us that knows that we live in an essentially moral universe with right and wrong.

Romans 2:14-15

for when Gentiles, who do not have the law, by nature do the things in the law, these, although not having the law, are a law to themselves, 15 who show the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and between themselves their thoughts accusing or else excusing them)

When you scrape away the hypocrisy, fear, greed, and lies from someone who is faced with their mortality, they show that deep down they know ‘the work of the law written in their hearts’: that is right from wrong.

Third: God has orchestrated His special & specific revelation through His Word.

For example, John highlighted seven miracles in his Gospel to make his point about Jesus as the Christ.

John 20:31

but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name.

This example shows that God has chosen to reveal Himself through His Word. His invitation to receive His gift of perfect salvation is open to all. All throughout scripture both in the old and new testaments do we see God reaching out to people all over especially those afar off.

When you layer creation, conscience and revelation across mankind, they are without excuse. In the end, the Bible also shows that God is a just God, not willing that anyone perish.

2 Peter 3:9

The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.

That’s’ God’s heart for people who are lost.

Let’s be a part of His plan to reach all, everywhere at all times.
